Candle Care

Did you know a candle has a memory?
Yes, it's true! Candle memory refers to the tendency of a candle to "remember" its previous burn pattern and to  continue burning in that pattern during       subsequent uses. This occurs when a candle is not allowed to burn for a           sufficient amount of time during each use, causing the wax to tunnel down the center rather than melt evenly across the entire surface.

By following these simple tips, you can minimize candle memory and enjoy a longer-lasting and more consistent burn with each use!

  • Trim the Wick: Before each use, trim the wick to about 0.6 centimeters for cotton wicks and ensure the entire width of the wood wick is trimmed for wood wick candles, to prevent excessive smoking and ensure a clean, even burn. You may need to hold the lighter a few seconds longer when lighting a wood wick to  ensure that it is lit.

  • Burn Time: Allow your candle to burn for at least 2.5 to 5 centimeters      during each use, or until the wax pool reaches the edges of the container. This helps prevent tunneling and promotes an even burn. For wood wick candles, ensure that the entire width of the wood wick is lit to prevent   tunneling.

  • Avoid Drafts: Keep your candle away from drafts, as they can cause uneven burning and excessive flickering. This also helps  prevent the candle from burning too quickly.

  • Safety First: Always place your candle on a heat-resistant surface and away from flammable materials. Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep it out of reach of children and pets.

  • Extinguish Safely: Use a candle snuffer or gently blow out the flame to     extinguish your candle. For wood wick candles, gently break off any burnt parts of the wood wick before relighting. Avoid using the lid or blowing  directly onto the flame, as this can cause hot wax to splatter.

  • Storage: Store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading and melting.
